Diarrhoea and Pandas
Kim and I both woke up with diarrhoea this morning. Mine was a little less severe than his but in both cases, it wasn’t serious enough to cancel the day’s outing.
We had organized a taxi to take us to the Panda Breeding Research Centre. The journey of about 35 mins cost us CNY100 round-trip including waiting time. The hotel’s price was CNY200-300.
The grounds of the Centre was spread out and we took a toy train to get around. There were pandas in enclosures and cubs in incubators. There were also red pandas which aren’t pandas at all.

Back in Chengdu
We got ourselves dropped off at Renmin Park or People’s Park back in Chengdu. It was a nice park with a lovely tea pavilion.
Back in our room, we made up some gastrolyte each to drink. Kim threw up. He slept on and off through the day.
We did go out briefly for a walk to Traffic Hotel which had lots of backpacker type of information and services. We also snacked on a bag of cakes and drinks for lunch.
Today I opted for reflexology rather than a massage. It never seems to hit the spot with me so I may give up trying them.
We had a simple dinner at Dico’s which is like a Chinese version of McDonald’s. I was a little disappointed with the rice burger. The buns had been replaced with rice patties which were coloured with soya sauce whereas I had expected them to be fried as with the Japanese chain MOS.
It was an early night into bed, made up with nice duvets that remind me of the traditional German ones. They’re quite common around China.
