We two nights stay at the awesome Concorde El Salam resort, which meant a full day of just enjoying the sea, marine life, pools and good food.
It became apparent that our resort (and Sharm) was popular with Russian sun-seekers, which explain the two large Russian jets at the airport. G-strings seem more common here than in New Zealand, and they were worn by both the body-beautiful and the blobby-beautiful.
The staff here were very obliging. Eg. When were beach-side, they walked to the pool to fetch towels for us, something we were happy to do for ourselves.
What we like about the Egyptian resorts (or possibly just this one) is the pricing. We were getting awesome accommodation and food at a fraction of what we would get in Fiji, which is kinda New Zealand’s closest winter getaway. Fiji, a third-world country, charges first-world prices because it has a captive market with Kiwis and Aussies. On the other hand, Egypt charges an inflated third-world price which is still very reasonable for their customers from the developed world. For me, this is better than Fiji (which I love), but sadly it is too far from New Zealand.
