The flight to Singapore was on a new A330. It had some nice features like mood lighting in blue for our sleeping time. I sat next to a German man going to Cebu for a 3 day holiday! That’s 3 flights totalling 17h (plus connection/ground time) each way, for just 3 days. No, that’s not me.
We landed in Singapore around midday. We had to show our boarding pass to the staff as we left the plane, as it was continuing on to Cebu. Each passenger leaving is ticked off a list and at the same time the purser clicks a counter as a secondary check.
This is to ensure no one stays on boards and continues to Cebu for free, or conversely leaves the aircraft prematurely with explosive luggage on board. The other way of course is to have everybody disembark and only passengers with boarding passes for Cebu reboard.
Security staff were also at the gate to inspect cleaners and their vacuum cleaners as they board. This is Singapore. Nothing is done by half measures.
I took a taxi to my step-dad’s place. I grabbed some lunch in the shops behind the house. That was embarrassing as I had forgotten to take any money along. With the lunch crowd gone, there was limited choice. But I was happy with the fish, veges and rice for only SGD2. Singapore is very cheap for eating if you do it local style, and it’s even cheaper in the suburbs here. I showered and slept/dozed for 4h.
Mum told me that a big unit in her apartment complex had just become available for MYR320K including about MYR50K of chattels. It sounded tempting, but I wasn’t in a state to think about it.
I headed back to the airport for my 2020 flight to Auckland on Air New Zealand.
