Moorea day-trip

17 October 2005

We woke around 0900 which meant it was too late for the early boat to Moorea.  We took things easy and walked to town for the 1200 ferry, operated by the Aremiti 5.  It was a very big and smooth ferry and it took only about half hour to make the journey across to Moorea.

Once at Moorea, we transferred on to a truck.  With so many people, it took about 30 mins before we got moving.  It was a 45 min ride to the Intercontinental here, our sister-hotel.  It was at the far end of the island from where we had docked.

We swam in the sea and then the pool.  Overall, we had over an hour here as we had to be ready and waiting for the truck by 1500.

We waited for the bus in the shade, letting other people wait in the sun.  Then Kim hailed a hotel van leaving.  They had pre-booked guests on the way to the ferry, and we joined them rather than continue waiting for the truck.

The journey back to Papeete on the smaller Moorea Express was rough.  The water was nearly purple in the deeper reaches, blue in the parts that were less deep and aqua in the reef.  It was rough by still beautiful.

We finished the day with dinner at the trucks in town.  Today we opted for something different.  We had a Chinese stir-fry vegetables on noodles plus tofu, prawn and salted fish on rice.  So so yummy!  We trucked back to the hotel afterwards.
