I try to combine my world adventures with a visit to see family in Kuching. It was cheaper to fly from Johor Bahru across the border on a domestic flight to Kuching, rather than from Singapore’s Changi airport.
Step-bro and his partner Josephine took me out for a very good dimsum breakfast at Lau Pa Sat (Old Markets) before dropping me off at the Orchid Copthorne Hotel where Malaysia Airlines ran a bus to Johor Bahru’s Senai Airport.
The trip felt slow and took just under 2h including border formalities before we reached the airport. As I was boarding the Boeing 737, I heard the Leading Stewardess say to the caterer that they were 16 meals short. But shortly after she said that they had been found!
That would have been a disaster as the airline’s meals are normally delicious. Today’s Ayam Masak Hitam (Chicken in Black Sauce) was delicious served with sultana rice and pickles. There’s been some cutback in catering. Dessert is now gone and replaced with cookies and Kitkat.
My brother Benny and step-dad picked me up and delivered me home in time for a family dinner.
