Today I leave for Kuala Lumpur at 1800, giving me some time to kill during the day. I went out for a hair cut and spent some time at home with Mum and step-dad.
I went to the airport late afternoon to check in for my Malaysia Airlines flight to KL. I noticed that check-in and dispatch was now handled by Singapore Airlines Terminal Services staff rather than Malaysia Airlines staff. My national carrier is learning to be more efficient at outstation ports.
Arriving at KL at 1900, I was to meet up with Kim whose flight from Auckland was scheduled to land at 2000. But he landed around 1915 so our arrivals coincided well. Just as well my waitlist for a later flight from Singapore to KL didn’t come through as Kim would have been waiting for me impatiently after his long flight.
There were lots of taxi touts at the airport. We were transferred to the Capitol Hotel in KL’s Bukit Bintang area by Malaysia Airlines as part of their stopover package. As we approached the Bukit Bintang areas it was very beautiful with lights for both Deepavali and Hari Raya Puasa (Eid-ul-Fitr). KL gets nicer and more lovable each time I come.
We were offered a choice of beds at check-in, which was nice. Rather than just simply assigned. We took a brief walk around Bukit Bintang before settling in for the night.
