Today we took a short drive back to Dehradun after a breakfast of toast. While I enjoy my Indian breakfast, toast is less greasy than most Indian bread options.
Our drive back to Dehradun took us through the end of Mall Road which we hadn’t explored. As we approached Dehradun, we passed a Tibetan market and temple but there wasn’t anything worth stopping for.
One observation on our drives around India is that petrol is dearer here than in New Zealand. I wonder hope people cope. Despite that public transport (which may be diesel or petrol) is cheap.

At Dehradun we looked for a hotel. The “Great Value Hotel” was nice but came at three times the price of the Sunrise Hotel where we had stayed 2 nights ago. Mushtaq took us to the Osho Resorts which we had seen before. I think it may be named after the controversial religious leader and mystic.
We had no obligations for the rest of the day. I went walking with Jo and Fiona while they shopped near the clock tower. The one-hour walk was busy in parts. Jo bought a nice three piece Indian-style suit for her grandson.
Back in the room, Jo and I gave each other a massage before going for dinner at Nandini’s. She made a chicken curry, roti, some raw vegetables and sweets. As a farewell gift, Jo gave Nandini her Sony digital camera. Being an artist and owner of an art school, it was something that she would truly use to capture her work and those of her students.
