Above: Magenta Restaurant looks like something out of a magazine.
I had heard about a nice restaurant called Magenta. It’s not often that we get to go out for a nice dinner in Kuching beyond just street or coffee shop fare. So my brother and Benny dragged Mum and step-dad along.
The ambience of the restaurant was stunning. It was set in an old wooden Malaysian-style home on low stilts. [Edit: Years later it moved to the Old Courthouse complex.] It was decorated with lanterns, sculptures, flowers and coloured net curtains as partitions for both privacy and style. The ambience was just unlike what I would have expected from anywhere in Kuching. It looked like something out of a magazine.
Then came the food. My seafood bouillabaisse was chocka with three big prawns, mussels, squid and clams. It was also delicious too.
