After a breakfast of bread, jam and cheese the others went out for a camel ride. This didn’t have a novelty factor for me so I stayed back and relaxed. The tide was now better at the beach which made for a lovely swim.

From the campsite, we drove to Arher Dunes and then to Deiqab cave. It wasn’t the biggest or most interesting cave but it added a little variety to the trip.
We had chocked the 4WD with rocks as we had parked on a slope. The vehicle wouldn’t start when we were ready to set off again. Lou hopped out to try push the vehicle, with Kristina joining second. It made such a good photo with Kristina in her hijab and Lou at the same time. But my priority was to help with the pushing, and I only managed a photo with Lou in it.

We continued to Dixam in the mountains where there were lots of Dragon Blood trees. We took a picnic lunch at a wadi, enjoying a tuna salad. Here, we met Mohammad, our organiser. Swimming in the waters of the wadi, the local “shoofis” (staring squad of kids) found us.

In the afternoon, we drove past Omar’s village and continued to our campsite at Darho.
While waiting for dinner, we saw a man furiously working away in the distance. As it turned out, he had slaughtered a goat for our dinner and had been gutting and cutting it. So, we had freshly killed goat cooked in milk and spices.
It was another delightful night lying under the stars and the moon chatting after dinner. As with the other nights, we’re often in bed by 1930 as it gets dark early here. Tonight, we are back in tents.
