My bus from Fes arrived at Erfoud around 0630 instead of 0500. From the bus I saw the sun rise over the sandy horizon. It kinda made up for the night trip.
My accommodation, the Auberge du Sud, had arranged a pick by a nice Land Cruiser. The kasbah was a lovely mud/straw building on the edge of the mighty Sahara.
On the inside, the rooms were plastered. I rested and then slept till 1100 before having a light lunch. I took a walk in the desert thereafter but didn’t need to go too far, since I had arranged a sunset camel ride for the evening.

My camel ride was from 1700 to 1840 was stunningly beautiful. It was also expensive and touristy. I’ll let the gorgeous pictures do the talking.
The day finished with a very energetic drum performance after dinner. An Israeli group was present and were made very welcome by the staff. There aren’t many Muslim countries that they can visit, let alone made to feel welcome.
