Above: At Mission Santa Barbara.
We have a big day today, driving from Arroyo Grande to Los Angeles (about 3h drive) before flying to London Heathrow.
We had enough time on the drive to stop at the Mission at Santa Barbara, about halfway through the drive. While the mission was founded in 1786 the existing building was only finished in 1820. An earthquake damaged the building considerably and what we see now is largely the result of the restoration completed in 1927.
After returning the car, we got to Los Angeles airport in good time for our 1640 departure on Air New Zealand to London. With four of us on standby, it seemed like a miracle that we all got on.
