Today I explored the historical sights of Macau … it is one of several places in Asia which have a Portuguese heritage (and with bricks and stones still standing to show for it). It takes about half a day to do most of the bigger historical attractions (Portuguese and Chinese) and maybe another half-day if you want to take in “more of the same”. Then allow some time in the evening for the casinos.
First up were the sights in the old part of the city. These were mainly made up of Chinese shophouses and colonial buildings.

In my explorations, I couldn’t help noticing that the some cars are all fogged up inside, as if it had suffered a major leak. Then noticed some were being stripped of all seating for drying … and likewise with the hotel next door to mine (furniture, carpets, invoices …). It appears the typhoon few days back had taken its toll on lots of people. I’m very lucky that my flight wasn’t affected.
I continued further afield to the A Ma temple, which is a temple for the sea goddess Mazu.
