Habana Vieja or Historic Havana is a pretty historic district that is relatively well-restored and is also the centre of all things touristy. It is about 20 minutes walk (but a strong contrast) from the crumbling Old Havana which we are in.
In the real Old Havana, many of its residents crammed into three-storey apartments … several families to a building. It becomes obvious when one notices the number of doorbells attached to one main entrance to a building.
- Near the Malecon in the newer part of the city … while attempting to collect our Cubana airticket.
- Habana Vieja with cannonballs (or sometimes cannons) as bollards.
- La Catedral. One sandwich here is over USD5 … much more than a whole bowl of prawns in Chinatown.
- Fiesta time.
- Street performers.
- Habana Vieja.
- Habana Vieja … with cannon sticking out of the pavement. Close Window
- Down the street looking at the Capitolio (former State Capitol).
- Horse and cart tourist trap.
- Fort on the other side of the bay.
- Many families live in one building.
