We travelled from Santa Clara to Havana today for an overnight, to continue to Vinales the next morning.
The journey of nearly 4h was not entirely uneventful. We checked-in at the bus station early but the lady didn’t want to issue the ticket straight away (even though we had reservations). I think she wanted to be sure there were enough seats as the bus had originated elsewhere.
The bus arrived and as she handed me the ticket, I saw it pulling away at exactly the scheduled time of 0820. I ran after the bus but just missed it. Little did I know that it was just going down the road for fuel … I should have had more faith in the system.
In Havana we returned to our original guesthouse for a one night stay. We arranged this directly with them by email after having booked our initial stay online. That would have saved them some commission, which would convert into a lot of money in Cuba.
