Afternoon in Glenelg

10 April 2009

Upon arrival, we hopped on to the public bus to the city but didn’t have small notes.  The kind driver wanted to conserve his change so gave the both of us free rides.  This is the way New Zealand used to be!!!  I love it!!!

We stayed at the Mercure Grosvernor in the city centre, opposite the casino and railway station. Just the view of all the beautiful old stone buildings on the bus ride into the city suggests that Australia has a longer and more colourful (euphemism) history than New Zealand.  In reality, Australia’s European history is only a few decades older.

We spent the afternoon in the seaside suburb of Glenelg. This was such a welcome change to the early blast of winter which we suffered in Auckland just before our trip.
