Nightstop or Not

12 October 2009

When I booked my tickets 7 months ago, the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Manado was an early morning one. And that would require us to fly from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur today (a day in advance) and overnight there beforehand.

But a schedule change a few weeks after we made the booking shifted tomorrow’s flight to Manado into the afternoon. We didn’t bother rejigging our flights as the fares are non-changeable and non-refundable. Having paid peanuts for the promotional tickets, it wasn’t worthwhile buying a replacement ticket at a higher price.

So, today, we flew from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur at 2250, arriving at 2235 for our nightstop. Fortunately, there’s Tune Hotels, a sister company to Air Asia, right opposite the airport terminal.

They have rooms available sometimes for MYR0.01 (plus taxes and optional add-ons). But for tonight, I couldn’t get that rate but it was still cheap and handy. Their basic room rates are cheap and add-ons are at fair prices. Eg. air-conditioning (a few bucks for the night) and towels. What comes as standard are comfy nicely-sheeted King-Coil beds and luxurious rain-shower.
