Ketchikan was once the canned salmon capital of the world. It is a rainy place … we’ve been told that if you come at anytime and stay for more than one hour, you will encounter rain. We’re so glad we didn’t pre-book any activities as it wouldn’t be a nice day to eg. go flightseeing or whalewatching!
Parts of the town comprise of stilted buildings built around a boardwalk, including a famous brother called Dolly’s House.

We returned to the ship, knowing that we were approaching the end of our trip. That was our last outing and we have a day at sea tomorrow before arriving back to Vancouver. We made the most of the entertainment on board, which was just as well because bad weather tomorrow saw some gymnastic acts cancelled.
- Meals on the Celebrity Mercury are very good. Here we have lobster, prawn and scallop. I even tried snail this trip (tasted like mushroom).
