I had originally planned to Muscat today for the Wahiba Sands … large expanses of dunes. It’s stuff I had done before in Dubai and Morocco, so I opted to stay in Muscat today. These things have a certain romantic novelty value and are expensive … twice is enough.
The day quickly disappeared … researching and making onward travel arrangements, walking on nearby Qurm beach and just general relaxing.
Lunch was good and cheap … I had a chicken curry, kebab, rice, tea and fake boxed juice for OMR1.5 … which is about NZD5. I thought that was quite reasonable for a country that’s relatively developed and generally quite expensive. There are a few gems in the price of things here … soft drinks very cheap at around OMR0.150 (about NZ 50 cents).
