Today we flew down to Dunedin … Edinburgh of the South, as it is New Zealand’s most Scottish city.
As we approached the town centre, the shuttle driver told us that the railway station was the second most photographed building in the world! Hhmmm! So, it is more photographed than the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower or the Pyramids?
Not sure about that but we know it is the departure point of the Taieri Gorge railway … one of New Zealand’s most scenic rail journeys. Based on this reputation, I decided to do this trip … hoping that I’ll see the golden hues of autumn. We’ll see how it compares with the TranzAlpine later in the year when we’ve experienced both.
