From Hue to Hoi An, we took a tourist bus which picked up guests (Vietnamese and foreigners) from various hotels before heading on the journey south. We passed through Danang and having had more than a glimpse of the city now, I’m pleased we decided to bypass the city … apart from resorts and golfing, I didn’t think there was much to it unless one was after a good beach holiday.
About four hours later, we arrived in Hoi An. Unlike Danang, Hoi An on the other hand was delightful. More about Hoi An tomorrow!
We booked into a lovely hotel called Thien Thanh Hotel. While it was a modern hotel, it was tastefully decorated with Vietnamese elements. It also came with an outdoor pool which was located under cover. Good for Kim who burns easily.
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- First glimpses of Hoi An; on the far side of the river.

- Japanese Bridge linking the Japanese and Chinese communities in the old days.
- Nice cafe.
- Nice restaurant.
- Chinese temple.
- Buying some cakes.
- I seem happy with my purchase … but that’s before I tasted it. While I love taro and tapioca cakes in general, these were extremely dry and could choke you easily.
