Our scheduled departure from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City was late tonight at 2150. We wanted a taste of the beach life but didn’t feel like snorkelling … we only wanted a few lazy dips in the water.
So we didn’t do one of those boozy party-boat trips to the nearby islands. Instead we hired a motorbike and rode more than halfway down the road to Cam Ranh airport.
The beach there was long, white and sandy. A portion of it was covered in thatched roofs that went all the way into the water, and accommodated many eateries.
This was the perfect setup for us as Kim burns too easily with the sun … as if it wasn’t bad enough with the motorbike ride. We spent about three hours here with frequent dips in the water, punctuated with grazing on local food (boiled peanuts, rice crackers, tasty seafood porridge and DIY BBQ squid.
It was a lovely day at the beach, even though it’s different from what most people would have expected.

It was late when we landed at Ho Chi Minh City at 2245 and we made our way to Sai Gon Sports Hotel 3 for a two night stay, which was effectively just one full day for doing things.
