Despite the wet weather, I made the trip to Mt Soerak National Park by bus and walked/climbed 4.3km to Ulsan Bawi, a granite outcrop at 873m. It took over two hours going up and an hour to come back down.
I was drenched … raincoats don’t really work … if it protects you from the rain, you’ll be soaked inside from the perspiration. The smart Koreans carry umbrellas! One doesn’t normally go walking in National Parks with umbrellas but it is perfect for a non-windy environment.
- Gushing stream due to the continuous rain.
- Sinheung-sa, a temple near the start of the track.
- Nice view of the neighbouring mountains.
- Easy part of the track, and pretty too.
- Hendeul Basi, a massive 16 tonne boulder balanced on the edge of a rocky ledge. It rocks if several people push it but has never been dislodged.
- Beautiful forest; lovely trees.
