I had to wake at 0300 for a 0530 departure from Surabaya to KL in order to self-connect to Krabi 4h20 mins after landing at 0905. It was a pleasant few hours at KLIA LCCT as I spent most of the time at the nearby Food Garden catching up on emails and tasks.
Upon arrival at Krabi airport at 1340, we faced a long immigration queue. I bused to Aonang Beach, but was met with a short stop enforced by bus company at a travel agent where they try to sell us excursions.
Aonang is a pleasant seaside town that is rather touristy but not to the same scale as Phuket of Pattaya. Like much of southern Thailand, it is Muslim so it helps keep things down to a less debaucherous level.
The weather didn’t appear to bad for the wet season but I spoke too soon … it got torrential in the afternoon and the wind was howling.
