Wrong country
I missed out on my swim in the sea yesterday. By the time I got settled and ready, a huge storm blew up (being the wet season) and after that the tide was out. So I woke early to make sure I didn’t miss out today. I opened the door and the owner walked past and I said “Selamat Pagi” … it was a few minutes later when I realised “Ooops! Wrong country!”. My brain and tongue were still in Indonesia where I had spent the last week and a bit.
Appeasing yet another virgin
I walked to a highly recommended Phra Nang beach where people do rock-climbing. There was a shrine there with many wooden phalluses to appease another dead virgin … just like in Korea.
Have Koreans and Thais not heard of the Chinese practice of ghost marriages? You can arrange for the spirit of a deceased single person to be married to either (i) another one, or (ii) a live person. Don’t you think this is more “real” than wooden phalluses?
Anyway the surf was pounding a little so I decided on to swim in Railay West instead.
