Today we opted not to visit Monte Alban near here … they’re ruins of pyramids. Having just seen Teotihuacan and also going to others later, I thought it would be “too much”.
Instead we’d do some things around town today and do a non-pyramidal excursion out of town tomorrow.
It proved to be the right thing … we caught up with Martin (from our Teotihuacan excursion) for lunch. We also caught two colourful and noisy processions but unfortunately, language barrier prevents us from getting a deeper insight into these.
Also, we visited Santo Domingo church and the Cathedral in the Zocalo. The former was very impressive with hunks of gold for three altars in its interior … while the Cathedral was rather minimalist in comparison.

- Musicians at the Zocalo. The blur is a man dancing and waving his cape, along with another prancing around with his tambourine.
