Our AirAsia X flight landed in Christchurch around 1500. We were home in New Zealand but not quiet home home. We had another flight departing at 1730 before we would be truly home in Auckland at 1850 .
We had booked ourselves firm tickets for the domestic flight rather than standby. Of course, the downside now is that we couldn’t simply get on an earlier flight to take us to Auckland. After the night flight, I had this “so near yet so far” feeling.
No complaints though, we had flown Christchurch to Kuala Lumpur and back for NZD116 per person plus NZD52 of airport taxes plus NZD6 card payment fee. That’s a total of NZD174 per person return!
And baggage was only NZD1 per kg and meals around NZD8 prepaid.
