We have two full days here in Mui Ne. It seemed like a good idea to dedicate one day for nothing (tomorrow) and make use of today’s good weather for exploring. We rented a motorbike and rode out to the white sand dunes up the coast and also the red ones.
We then backtracked down to Phan Thiet, the local town near Mui Ne. At Phan Thiet, our tummies wanted lunch. The first couple of cafes only sold drinks with no food, a bit unusual for Asia. Our third attempt proved more fruitful. We decided on KFC for dessert as in Vietnam (and Korea) they have the most beautiful egg tarts.
During our short visit, this American man came in wearing camouflage everything (shorts, shirt, flak jacket and helmet) plus sandals. Me being me, I was going to say “No one told you the war is over? And you lost!” Even though he doesn’t look old enough to be a Vietnam Vet, I thought he might have some mental issues so its’ better to let him enjoy his delusion.
- The water around Mui Ne (during our visit) was rather uninviting. But it was still an enjoyable rest stop.
