It was a very civilised departure time of 1110 for our flight from Leh to Delhi. We arrived at the airport about 2h prior to find the queue quite long. As usual, security was tight (but inconsistently enforced, eg. some people snuck water bottles through while others weren’t allowed).
After takeoff, we had a normal climb. A few minutes later we suddenly appeared to be much lower as he passed a high ridge. As we climbed further, we got into some seriously white scenery with snow-capped mountains and glaciers … which were all unfortunately obscured by white clouds.

- I thought we had climbed high enough out of Leh airport until we struck (OK, not quite) a ridge below us.
- Big glacier under us.
- Snowfields on the western edge of the Tibetan plateau.
We taxied to our hotel at Paharganj area near New Delhi station. We love the area as it is so colourful. I had a shave and Kim a haircut. We explored some souvenir options (good prices without having to bargain) and stocked up on first aid pharmaceuticals (at unbelievably low prices).
- Our lovely street, the Main Bazaar of Paharganj during a deceptivey quiet moment
- The barbershop in the background.
- Having a shave.
- Kim having a haircut.
- The pharmacy.
- Goodies from the pharmacy: ambroxol, diclofenac gel and mini sensodyne x2 for around NZD3.50.
