After a late breakfast, Peter and Shukri dropped me off at Melaka Sentral. It was 1015 and I managed to get a bus that was just about to leave at 1030. The journey was much faster today, arriving at Bandar Tasik Selatan’s bus terminal 1215.
I trained back to the hotel to unload and grabbed a light lunch. I decided to visit Uniqlo about an unhappy purchase. I had bought two pre-packaged T-shirts of the same model and size as before, only to find that they were somewhat larger. They exchanged them without querying me too much. As refunds and exchanges are almost unheard of in this country, I had gone prepared with the old one as well so they could see the difference … but they took my word.
I then made my way by train to Chinatown to find that it had been taken over by people from the subcontinent (probably Bangladesh). There were quite a few Myanmar nationals there too. Foreign workers (and illegal immigrants) are currently a big issue in this country. I was a minority in my own country on the street at that time!
Walking around Chinatown, I couldn’t see any suitable sandals. So I’ll have to make do with the ugly Croc look-alikes for now.
