As diving was off the menu today, I decided to re-visit the north-west quarter of the island today. I tried the bicycle at the hostel but it was a bit high for me. So I rented one from the Tourist Information Centre.
I revisited the Avaiki cave but this time, I made sure I swam in the beautiful indoor cave pool. Next, I revisited my favourite which was Limu Pools. With the weather being cloudy, it didn’t look quite as stunning but it was still very nice to have a di after the sweaty bike ride (about 30 mins).
I did drop into a new sight, the Palaha Cave for a quick look-see. It was very much like the other caves that I had seen already so I didn’t linger too long.

On the way back, I got chased by dogs twice. The local dogs seem to go after cars too, seemingly attracted by the wheels going round. I also ran into a chicken which survived the accident (but then they can run away even headless, right?).
But more strangely, when I was cycling back into town, I thought about my two days in Niue and how I loved the island lifestyle. Suddenly the idea of diving with sharks in Fiji came back to me. This was something I had wanted to do for a while, but the idea got lost until now.
I spent the afternoon researching the Beqa Lagoon shark dive and also talking to Jonathan. I learnt a lot from him about life as a medical student, my medical situation, general health questions and public health issues. We grabbed an Indian dinner at Gill’s.
