Check-in for the 1445 flight to Auckland starts at 0900! Many Niueans check in then hit town. I took a more conventional timing with Brian dropping me to the airport at 1230. There was plenty of time to kill still and I ended up chatting with the Kiwi lady from Whangarei who gave me a lift to the supermarket on the first day.
Leaving Niue, here are my thoughts:
- You can see and experience the highlights in a day.
- You may want a day to see other attractions that may be “more of the same” (but it doesn’t matter as it means more swim and sun).
- You may want an extra day for diving, swim with dolphins and whale watching each. Plus some extra days in case of bad weather.
- With flights running 1-2 a week, a three to seven night stay is sufficient for a getaway from the New Zealand winter.
