I had trouble getting to sleep last night. With only some natural light and a one hour time change to the east, I woke up relatively late around 0800. I wasn’t hungry and delayed breakfast till around 1000 popping down to Pans & Company for a sandwich and coffee.
Check-out for Hotel Pelayo was 1100 which meant I had to go to the airport perhaps an hour too early. I was at the bus at Plaza Catalunya soon after 1100 with a long queue for the Terminal 2 bus.
I got on the first bus regardless and it was a very quick 20 minutes despite being Monday.
Going airside, the queue was long but flowing. I killed about 3.5h at the lounge before going to the gate. We boarded Norwegian’s sauna of a B737-800 and left on time. It cooled down after airborne for an uneventful flight to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.
We landed at 1900 and I was out swiftly waiting for a bus to Playa del Ingles. I noticed that many signs were in the national language, then German then English. Apparently German tourists are big in numbers here, together with other people from the northern part of Europe. It was a short wait and soon I was on board and disembarking near my hotel. I was checking-in by 2000 and having dinner at CITA shopping centre by 2030. Is that easy or what?
Since I would be spending three nights self-catered here, I stocked up on fruit and breakfast essentials before retiring. Lying in bed I thought … even though I’m in Spain, I’m geographically in Africa. It’s so ironic that I had just come from Africa back to Africa via Lisbon and Barcelona!
