We tried to head out early before it got too hot. But it was 0900 by the time we left, wandering down to the ferry for the short hop across to the Three Cities. There was nothing specific that we wanted to do but it was nice to wander around, especially when parts were very nicely decorated for festivities. We took a rest stop for a snack lunch.

Kim went to another war museum while I headed back to keep cool at midday. We stayed indoors till 1700 when we took a bus to Mdina, the old walled city that was once the capital of Malta.
Again, it was a nice place to wander around and pop our heads into a church or two. There were several restaurants, some with a view of the lowlands. We managed to get a table in a little alcove all to ourselves for a lovely dinner. Like Spain, Malta is a reminder as to how reasonable Europe is nowadays compared to New Zealand. We could get mains for EUR10 (and three courses for the same amount at times).
We took another bus back to Valletta and settled back into our lovely apartment by 2045. We had run out of milk and like last night’s search for water, we had been unsuccessful. No tea on wake-up in the morning then … (Kim doesn’t drink black tea).
