There’s nothing much to see in Dushanbe for a non-museum person. I explored a little of the city which has nice tree-lined avenues along with large government buildings. You can be the judge of the architectural styles; check out the pictures.
To be honest, I needed a day of doing very little and spending time in the room chilling. ots of time with Google finding out about various things I’ve seen and facts about countries I’ve been to. Eg. I found that much of Uzbekistan’s main sights were actually Tajik/Persian in origin. After some quiet time alone, I felt recharged.
I took lunch in an Irish pub nearby. They had a soup, salad, bread and tea for TJS19 (USD2.2). The soup was a meaty consomme with diced vegetable cubes and meat. The salad was the same vegetables dressed in lots of mayo. Not exactly what I considered healthy.
With limited Tajik Somonis left, I had just one shwarma for dinner and bought some sunflower bars as snack for tonight and tomorrow. I should have about USD1 leftover if the taxi to the airport goes well tomorrow; the ride should be USD1-2.
