Today was a near write-off. We lazed indoors till lunchtime, except for a brief walk to drop-off our laundry (our first time since Brasov about four weeks ago). We still had little bouts of wobbliness from the boat.
I had decided on a Kicker Rock dive for tomorrow while Kim was still hesitant on a snorkel there. There had been some variation in the rates and the best we had found was USD150 and USD110 (or variations totalling USD260). We went into a shop after lunch and he decided to come along and managed to get a USD10 discount.
Despite the long night sleep, Kim had a nap after. Afraid of wasting the day completely, I dragged him up for a walk. Las Tijeretas came highly recommended and was located beyond the Interpretation Centre. We went by foot and ignored the hilltop lookouts and headed for the snorkelling bay. It was a little too crowded and despite the few playful sea lions, I couldn’t be tempted into the water. We didn’t rent any snorkel gear and just had normal goggles anyway, as we had bigger underwater plans for tomorrow.
Continuing to nearby Punta Carola, supposedly good for surfing, it didn’t look too good for anything with the current conditions (no wind and water wasn’t very high). So we backtracked to Playa Man very near our hotel where we had a cool dip and a play with the sea lions there.
For dinner, we had a lobster for USD20 and a burger, shared between us. The lobsters here were frozen but that’s not a bad thing compared to those in Puerto Ayora being left out all day. It was delicious with a sauce of three cheeses and served on a hot stone.
