Sorting my accommodation crisis

29 November 2018

I have two whole days to spend in Mokokchung.  It’s a bit much for the town since I have already had a good dose of Naga villages.  But one full day was intended as a rest day after the long hard days and the second was gained from things going well with transport on previous days (like a buffer day for things going wrong).

I chatted to all and sundry at breakfast and the hotel staff about my accommodation crisis at Kohima for the Hornbill Festival.  I had lots of phone numbers given to me and coincidentally, Mr Gugu’s name came up.

After breakfast I walked to town to buy my sumo ticket for Kohima for two days time, then wandered around in search of internet.  My hotel internet was down due to a cable on our road being cut.  No internet cafe was found but I found an internet service provider whose receptionist helped me make some phone calls and made me a hotspot as well.

Back at the hotel, I spent my afternoon tidying photos and writing.  With the hotspot created by the hotel receptionist’s personal mobile, I kept in touch with Mr Gugu by WhatsApp and around dinner time he confirmed that he had found me something at slightly more than my cancelled hotel rate (which was rather under-priced).

It was a huge load off my shoulders!  He WhatsApped some pictures by the slow internet meant that I couldn’t really see them.  Beggars can’t be choosers so I promptly accepted his offer.
