I woke up in my capsule early and headed out to the nearest supermarket to get some breakfast. I settled for muesli, yoghurt and fruit. The muesli can be resealed to provide me more healthy breakfasts in the days to come.
After breakfast, I cleared out of my capsule and locker and settled into the lounge on the top floor. I used the internet to do some planning and admin on my laptop. In my couple of hours there, there was a man on phone calls the whole time. He sounded like he was working on a sales proposal for Oracle. Combined with the kitchen facility where I made a few coffees/teas, I felt like I was on a work trip to Wellington, seated in a lunch room in an office there.
I left at the appointed check-out time of 1100 and grabbed a Vietnamese sandwich for AUD6 and enjoyed it in the windy sunshine in a park. I killed time in the afternoon till taking the train to the airport around 1700.
Getting to check-in around 3h30 prior to my 2045 flight to Kuala Lumpur, I was near the front of the queue. It was a short wait as they started check-in a little before 3h prior. Airside, I had a meal allowance of AUD36 to spend courtesy of my newish credit card in lieu entry to a lounge. That doesn’t go far at Sydney. I got an Angus burger, fruit salad and a drink for AUD33. The burger was nearly three times the price of my lunchtime sandwich and I didn’t enjoy it as much.
With the windy westerly weather, two of the airport’s runways were closed leaving only one operational. I’m guessing it is the single north-south runway. Our inbound aircraft came in late as a result but we only got away half hour late.
Due to good planning, I managed to have a row to myself to sleep. It nearly didn’t happen as someone had been given the window seat in the same row. But she shifted because the windows eat didn’t have a window!
