In the afternoon, after school, I made a trip to La Orotava. This is one of several old town on Tenerife but it is the nearest one to Puerto de la Cruz. In fact, it is just on the hills behind Puerto. I had to walk uphill to my bus station to catch the bus there.
It was a short walk from the La Orotava bus station in the newer part of town to its old heart. I wandered around for about an hour enjoying the view down to the sea, and looking at some of the old mansions and their courtyards. I didn’t bother paying EUR5 to enter Casa de Los Balcones, which is a mansion that’s now a museum.
