We have the day free to explore the surrounding areas. Our first idea had been to go to Paronella Park, a fairy-tale castle built by a Spanish immigrant. But at AUD50 for the visit, we thought we’d be wasting money on things we have seen before.
Instead, we took a late morning drive from our base at Kurrimine Beach towards the south to Bingil Bay, Mission Beach, Wongaling Beach and South Mission Beach which looks out to Dunk Island.
All the beaches were relatively flat, meaning they weren’t ideal for swimming unless one was willing to wade a long way out. Mission Beach had lots of crab burrows but not the others. There were no swimmers at any of the beaches but a few doing water-sports at South Mission.

I was starting to get hangry as we backtracked to Bingil Bay so we sat down for lunch. We returned to our base for the afternoon.
We both had separate matters to attend to. Kim was in the midst of buying a boat while I had bills to work through.
For dinner, we ordered a chicken salad from the bar and ate it in our room with extra tomatoes, an avocado, cheese and Turkish bread.
