Lazing in Larnaca

2 November 2021

I woke at 0530 as I seem to be still adapting go the one hour time change after the end of daylight saving.

I started my exploration of Larnaca with a walk along its waterfront which led me to the historic centre.  The St Lazarus church was free to enter and quite ornate.  The Byzantine Museum next door had some nice icons.  I returned to the church when I realised I had missed the small crypt which once held the remains of St Lazarus.

The day was a stunner and despite the beach and water not looking too great, I went for a swim.  Banana loungers here were EUR2.50 each and it was good they weren’t sold in pairs, unlike Coral Beach.

Water was cooler than at Coral Bay and one had to walk and swim a long way out before it became shoulder deep.  I’d say the beach and water was about the same standard as Takapuna Beach in Auckland where I live.

I chilled in my spacious apartment and took a light dinner of lahmacun.

Sun and sea on Larnaca’s main beach in the afternoon.
