Today I continue to revisit the various sights that make this city so spectacular. I started with a metro ride to the Notre Dame and a walk in the surrounding area where I once stayed with a friend. The cathedral has been inaccessible and boarded up for over two years while undergoing fire reinstatement.
Next stop was meant to be the Champs Elysee and the Arc de Triomphe. But when I noticed that the metro line went through Place de la Concorde, I got of there for an extended walk to both. McDonald’s on Champs Elysee proved the perfect place for a wee break, if you know what I mean.
The weather had been around 7 degC and I have been wearing my multi-purpose headscarf or bandana on my head to keep a little warmer.
From here, I walked to the Eiffel Tower. Fortunately, it wasn’t my first visit as it was a real disappointment. The base had been fenced off and there was considerable scaffolding around too. Even though visits to the base courtyard is free, I didn’t bother.
Text continues after this gallery.
I returned to the hotel by metro and grabbed a long-awaited baguette for lunch before spending the afternoon indoors.
Feeling tired in the evening, I was asleep around 2100.
