I finish my trip today after more than 11 weeks. Because the last few days have been a domestic holiday, it doesn’t feel like I’ve been overseas at all. In fact, yesterday wasn’t even a domestic holiday. After dropping Kim off at the airport, I had lunch with a former colleague, then visited an uncle before getting my Covid-19 booster shot in preparation for the Omicron outbreak.
After dropping off the rental car, I took the 1100 flight from Christchurch to Auckland, encountering a 15 min delay due to luggage-loading hiccups. Descending into Auckland, the scenery looked browner than most times. It’s a sign of good summer days so far. Hopefully there will be plenty more for my time back at Home Sweet Home.
