Landing in Nelson after midday, I had to collect my rental car. The last-minute decision to travel meant that rental cars in general were horribly expensive. Fortunately, I found a good rate from Hardy Car Rentals whom I had never used before.
I was supposed to ring them for a shuttle pick-up but when I did ring them, they had delivered the car to the airport carpark. As my flight was a little late, I had to pay a $3 parking fee to exit the carpark because the car had exceeded the 15 min free grace period.
It was a smooth 90 min drive to my accommodation just outside of Takaka where I had tried to book for my usual dormitory bed. The dorm was unavailable, having been rented out to a family member, so they upgraded me to a cabin in the garden for the same price.
Having just stocked up from the supermarket with some simple groceries, I made up a simple dinner for myself.
