Above: Very strong climber on the horizontal surface of the rock at Paine’s Ford.
The weather had turned dull and cloudy today with considerable humidity. It felt warm despite little direct sun.
I decided to do some minor exploration to Collingwood and then Milnthorpe Beach near there. Along the way I saw some hitchhikers. I thought I could have given them a ride on the condition they were vaccinated! But I didn’t. The area is home to, and attracts, many anti-vaxxers.

I stopped at Pupu (Waikoropupu) Springs for a brief wander in the afternoon light before making another visit to Paine’s Ford.
This time I saw both swimming holes. There weren’t anyone swimming in neither hole. It wasn’t my kind of a swimming place either. But I did see one very impressive climber on the horizontal surface of one rock face.
Nearby, hidden amongst the native bush, was a cliff with abseiling facilities. In contrast to the swim holes, the abseiling wall was rather busy.
Being my last night here, I ate in with my hosts again.
