We had both slept so well through the night. I woke around 0630 and next minute, it was 0800. The poolside breakfast was good but as soon as we returned to our room, it started drizzling and it later became light rain that would make any activity undesirable.
Around 1100, we walked along the grey sandy beach, covered nearly completely with driftwood and pounded by strong waves. We explored neighbouring properties to find that we were in the most open of them all, with the others tucked amongst the trees and foliage (nice in a different way). With the sea here useless for swimming, we were pleased that we had a small pool at our property.
We took a rest stop and a drink at La Breza Tranquila where one of the guests at our place had moved. We chatted before returning back. It’s funny a 10 min walk, interspersed with breaks can take up about 90 mins.
We were hot and sweaty by now and took a cool dip in the pool before ordering lunch. The meals, which took about an hour to arrive were both amazing. The seafood cazuela was like a chowder, served with coconut rice (brownish). The fruit bowl was very generous. They do awesome food here at the Blue Mango; if only they were faster!
In the afternoon Kim bumped and scraped his forehead. The receptionist insisted on tending to him and followed up with a new plater next day. I spent the afternoon and the evening planning for Istanbul with a friend, Ming Hui. I managed to shift us from a hotel I love that’s become pricey, to a cheaper a few steps away, saving me NZD250 over 5 days.
We finished the day with a light poolside dinner of fish taco and ceviche. It’s amazing how we killed the day doing seemingly so little.
