The hotel restaurant ran out of all but two breakfast choices this morning. But they had exactly what I wanted, the Vietnamese sandwich. It was light but enough to tide me over till the lounge at the airport.
I got to the airport by Ojek this time for a bit less than the ride in the opposite direction. Check-in, immigration and security was a breeze. For me, it was the spaciousness and lack of queueing that made it easy compared to other airports.
The x-ray scanners here are more advanced and do not need laptops to be taken out but small plastic bags containing one’s LAGs still need to be presented separately.
My AirAsia flight to Kuching pushed back on time but took 25 mins to get from the Terminal 4 gate to a newish runway located in a more recently reclaimed land on which ground work for Terminal 5 appears to be in progress. [Edit: This is a newer runway previously dedicated to the military but now shared with civilian use.]
It was a bumpy ride to Kuching with heavy weather. I arrived a little late for a short stay, after which I’ll head across the border to Singkawang in Indonesia.
