We landed in Sydney slightly ahead of the scheduled 1055 time. We were advised of a 15 min wait for a gate to become available but it turned out to be 40 mins.
We disembarked around 1130. The immigration kiosks didn’t work for me so I had to join the long queue. I managed to exit to the public area around 1225.
The train to the city centre wasn’t running today. Instead, free buses were put on to take passengers to Central station for people to start their train rides. But that was my destination anyway, so I ended up having a free ride to the city.
I grabbed lunch around 1300 at a Vietnamese restaurant before checking-in at Maze Backpackers around 1400.
With scorching hot weather, I spent the afternoon split between the cool of air-conditioned buildings and in the shade outdoors. It was far too stifling in my accommodation.
In the evening, a storm blew up with very strong westerly winds. I learnt later that the airport was closed and it did some damage to the Sail GP boats.
