We had a slow morning, leaving the apartment around 1100. Our visit to the Naval Museum nearby didn’t work out as it was closed today and tomorrow, so we’ll have to go on the morning of our departure from Varna.
We took an early lunch of various pre-cooked meals before walking to the Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral. Inside, it didn’t look as impressive as others we had seen.
Kim wanted to go to the Retro Museum, which required a taxi ride. There were many taxis outside the cathedral but they were rip-off artists wanting BGN20 for the ride.
I ordered a taxi on the local taxi app and it only costs us BGN5. The museum was located inside the Grand Mall. I chose to explore the mall instead of going to the museum, and ended up buying the awesomest nectarines.
Kim was very impressed with the collection of cars, TVs and appliances. Each and every item was perfectly restored to be like new.

We took a taxi ride from the mall back to our area and was shocked by the meter price. At first, we thought we had been cheated with a night tariff but we soon realised that we had travelled a greater distance coming all the way back to the guesthouse rather than the cathedral.
I stewed some peaches in the afternoon, having bought these red but hard fruit from our local supermarket yesterday. They will go nicely with our breakfast cereal tomorrow.
We returned to yesterday’s beach spot for a swim and hopefully a drink after. To our surprise, the water was full of not-very-nice green seaweed with white roots.
We reluctantly waded into the water to get to the clear areas. We saw a woman diligently scooping out the seaweed during our swim and she continued for over an hour, even when we had dried off and were enjoying a beer at the bar.
