Friends and family in Singapore
After spending yesterday with old uni friends from New Zealand, I spent today with my 94 old aunt.
I visited her straight after the hotel’s 1100 check-out, sat with her for a while before having a late lunch. To my surprise, she fed herself quite well today, whereas mid-year, she needed to be fed.
This would be my last visit to them here as their apartment block was being sold and would be demolished for redevelopment. They will be moving to a rental apartment not too far away.
After a good catch up with my cousin who was back from Scotland, I took transport to the airport. I learnt a fair bit from the conversation: even though the apartment is being sold for development and demolition, she has to clean up the property that they own to get back $150,000 of bond.
I got to the Changi Terminal 4 some 4.5h before my 2050 AirAsia flight to Penang. My flight is the tenth by the aircraft today so I had expectations of some delay.
Arriving in Penang
To my surprise, we departed 10 min ahead of schedule and landed in Penang 20 min early. My winning streak continued with my bag waiting for me at the carousel.
From there, I wasn’t so lucky, with a 20 min wait for a vehicle to take me to the Veno Hotel. I had changed my accommodation to this hotel and it turned out to be a great choice with a huge room and king-sized bed. However, they skimped in other ways: the drawers in the furniture were all make-believe and there wasn’t even a box of tissues in the room!
