National Mosque
For some reason, I woke at 0430 today, feeling like I didn’t need anymore sleep. I attended to online matters, had some cereal before heading out around 0830.
Today I thought I’d do something new. Even though I’ve visited countless mosques overseas, I had never visited one in my own country. So, I headed to Masjid Negara (National Mosques) by train, where tourists are welcome.
I got there just before the opening time of 0930. As I was already suitably attired in long pants, I didn’t need to borrow any robes.
Designed in the 1960s, the place has a somewhat modern starkness. It was very well-maintained and serene.

Kampung Baru
I took the train a short ride to Kampung Baru, a village in the middle of the concrete jungle, where locals refused to sell up to developers. I was here in 2011 and the place has changed considerably!
It is now slightly touristy and is touted as a food paradise. After having a simple meal of nasi lemak at a highly-recommended outlet, I found another place which I would have enjoyed more. Sadly, I had no more room in my tummy.

Window-shopping and tea
I killed some time at Decathlon in the Four Seasons hotel. I always feel so deprived of bargains, living in New Zealand that I have to look at stores like Decathlon and Uniqlo whenever I see them around the globe.
I left empty handed and met up with an old school friend for a cuppa from 1400 till 1600. We sat out torrential thunderstorms before getting dropped back to my hotel.
I had an early dinner of Nasi Kandar nearby before settling into my room at 1800 for an early night.
